An Exercise in Architectural Ambition
Conceived as a singular 10,000-square-foot estate in the sky, Brooklyn Estate brings together classical architecture, structural ingenuity, and exceptional craftsmanship. The residence was created through the union of two homes across multiple levels, transformed into one expansive and highly considered living environment.
At its center, a monumental three-story staircase forms the architectural heart of the residence: an elegant vertical axis connecting the newly unified spaces and creating a sense of movement and scale throughout the home.
Making such a gesture possible required an equally ambitious intervention behind the walls. Existing structural steel and concrete slabs were carefully removed, the building temporarily supported, and its loads precisely redistributed to accommodate the new volume. Working in close collaboration with the architect, structural engineer, and specialty fabricators, MCM orchestrated the complex sequencing required to transform the existing structure while maintaining its integrity.
The engineering ultimately disappears into the architecture, allowing the staircase to read as though it was always meant to be there.
Finished with a custom two-tone bronze ornamental balustrade, the sweeping staircase is at once sculpture, craftsmanship, and structure. Every element was fabricated specifically for the residence, with an attention to detail that reflects the level of refinement found throughout the home.
For MCM, the achievement lies in making extraordinary architecture feel effortless, quietly resolving the complexity behind the scenes so that the design can take center stage.
Brooklyn Estate is a study in disciplined transformation: where architectural vision, structural intelligence, and craftsmanship converge to create something entirely new, yet entirely at home within the architecture.
